What makes an invoice professional?

An invoice is a formal request for payment, and a complete one answers every question a client's accounts person might ask: who is billing, who is being billed, a unique invoice number, the date, an itemised list of what was delivered with quantities and rates, any tax applied, the total due, and how and when to pay. Missing any of these is the most common reason freelancer payments get delayed — the invoice bounces between departments while someone asks for "the complete bill".

How to use this generator

Fill in the form top to bottom: your business details, the client's details, then add line items with + Add item — the amount for each row and the subtotal, tax and grand total recompute as you type. Set the tax rate if you charge one (many Pakistani service providers add sales tax on services, which varies by province — check what applies to you). Finally press Print / Save as PDF: the print stylesheet strips away the form and site chrome, leaving only a clean invoice sheet ready to email or WhatsApp to your client. Nothing is saved on any server — if you invoice the same client monthly, keep the PDF and duplicate it next time.

The maths

amount = qty × rate (per line)
subtotal = Σ amounts; tax = subtotal × rate%; total = subtotal + tax

Worked example

A freelance designer bills a client for a logo project: "Logo design — 1 × PKR 25,000", "Business card design — 2 × PKR 5,000", and "Extra revision round — 1 × PKR 4,000". Subtotal: PKR 39,000. With 5% tax the tax line is PKR 1,950, and the total due is PKR 40,950. Invoice number INV-014, dated today, payment terms "within 14 days" and bank details in the notes — printed to PDF and sent, all in under five minutes.

When is this useful?

Freelancers and consultants billing clients, small shops issuing bills for services, tutors invoicing monthly fees, and anyone who needs a one-off professional bill without buying accounting software. Number invoices sequentially (INV-001, INV-002 …) and keep copies — they are the paper trail for your tax filings and the evidence if a payment dispute ever arises. Frequently asked questions

Is my invoice data stored anywhere?

No — everything lives in your browser tab and disappears when you close it. Save the PDF before closing. This is by design: your client and pricing data never touches a server.

How do I save the invoice as a PDF?

Press 'Print / Save as PDF', then choose 'Save as PDF' as the destination in your browser's print dialog. The print layout automatically hides the form and website, leaving only the invoice.

What tax rate should I use?

Whatever applies to your situation — many services in Pakistan attract provincial sales tax (rates differ by province and service), while some sellers don't charge tax at all. Set 0 if none applies, and consult a tax adviser if unsure.

Can I add my logo?

This version keeps things simple and logo-free for maximum compatibility. You can add a letterhead by printing to PDF and using your PDF editor, or paste the totals into your branded template.

Should invoice numbers be sequential?

Yes — sequential, never reused, and ideally with a prefix per year or client (e.g. 2026-014). Sequential numbering looks professional and keeps your records audit-ready.
