Mid-market rate vs what you'll actually get
The number shown here is the mid-market rate — the real, midpoint exchange rate that currencies trade at between banks, with no markup. It is the fairest reference point for "what is my money actually worth", but it is not the rate a bank, money changer or payment app will give you. Those businesses almost always apply a spread — commonly 1% to 4%, sometimes more — on top of the mid-market rate, plus sometimes a flat fee. Always compare the rate you're offered against this reference rate before a large transfer or a currency exchange at the airport.
Worked example
Say the live rate shows 1 USD = 285 PKR. Converting USD 500 gives roughly PKR 142,500 at the true market rate. If your bank quotes you PKR 137,000 for the same USD 500, that gap (about 3.9%) is the spread they're charging — worth knowing before you accept it.

Where do the exchange rates come from?
This tool fetches live reference rates from a public exchange-rate API the moment you use it. Rates are typically refreshed once every 24 hours by the data provider, so they track the real market closely but are not tick-by-tick trading rates.
Is this rate the same one my bank will give me?
No. Banks, money changers and payment apps almost always add a margin (a spread) on top of the real mid-market rate you see here — often 1-4%. Use this converter to know the true reference rate, then compare it against what your bank or app is actually offering.
How many currencies does it support?
The underlying data covers over 160 currencies worldwide. This page's dropdown lists the most commonly used ones, including USD, EUR, GBP, PKR, INR, AED, SAR and more.
Does this work offline or send my data anywhere?
The conversion math runs entirely in your browser. The only network request is a call to the public rates API to fetch current exchange rates — no amount you type is ever sent anywhere.
Why did the result change without me touching anything?
If you switch the "from" currency, the tool fetches a fresh rate table for that currency, which can take a moment on a slow connection. If a fetch fails, you will see an error message instead of a stale number.
