JazzCash Users Can Now Buy Government Treasury Bills From Rs5,000
JazzCash and Mobilink Bank announced on 16 June 2026 that Pakistanis can now invest directly in government Treasury Bills through the JazzCash app, with a minimum investment of just Rs5,000.
How the new feature works
According to a VEON press release and coverage by Profit by Pakistan Today, any JazzCash customer with a verified account and an active Mobilink Bank deposit account can buy three-month Treasury Bills without visiting a bank branch or broker. The initiative, done in coordination with the State Bank of Pakistan and the Ministry of Finance, aims to reach one million active retail investors, tapping into JazzCash's base of roughly 60 million registered users.
Why this is a bigger deal than it sounds
Government securities in Pakistan have traditionally required going through a bank or brokerage, which put them out of reach for many small savers even though T-bills are considered one of the safest ways to earn a return, backed by the government rather than a company. Bringing them into a mobile wallet app removes a real barrier for young savers who already use JazzCash for everyday payments but never opened an investment account.
